Student Delegation to Karlsruhe University of Education
In May 2019, 17 students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences were selected to go on a delegation to Karlsruhe University of Education. The weeklong visit included both cultural and academic activities. Students visited the Museum of Contemporary Art-ZKM voted as one of the top 10 museums in the world. They were treated to a generous sampling of products at the Hoepfner brewery after receiving an explanation of how beer is brewed. Two of the highlights of the trip were the Tree Top Walk in the Black Forest and a day trip to Heidelberg.
Students also had the opportunity to visit Gutenbergschule comprehensive school, and the Europaschule, primary school. In both schools they had the opportunity to observe lessons and interact with pupils and staff. An illuminating day was spent on campus observing lessons in the English Department, interacting with students and touring the campus.
In the evenings, students met with peers from Karlsruhe University of Education to experience nightlife in the city, forge relationships and further develop the collaboration between the two institutions.
The delegation was an uplifting educational and cultural experience and a resounding success.
